Built-In Infrared Heating
Outdoor Heaters
Extend your season. Extend your evenings.
Four architectural infrared heaters engineered to integrate into pergola ceilings, beams, and walls — delivering radiant warmth that heats people, not air, even in coastal wind.
Overview
Heat that goes where you sit.
Infrared radiant heat travels directly to people and surfaces — it doesn't warm the air first, which means wind doesn't carry it away. All four heater series are engineered for architectural integration into covered outdoor structures: ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted, or flush-recessed. They pair directly with every pergola and patio cover we offer, with finish options in white, black, and stainless steel.

Heater Series
Four ways to heat your space.
Each series has a different design profile and performance level. The right choice depends on your heat coverage needs, aesthetic preference, and whether electric or gas better suits your build.
Why Built-In Heaters
When to add heat to your structure.
Extend the season
Keep using your pergola on cool evenings and through the winter months — without adding a portable propane heater to the space.
Works with open louvers
Infrared heats people, not air. The louvers can stay open — or partially open — and the heat still reaches the people sitting under them.
No floor space lost
Ceiling and wall-mounted heaters free up every square foot of your outdoor space. No stands, no cords running along the floor, no units to move.
App-controlled zones
Group heaters by zone — dining, lounge, bar. Schedule them, dim them, or switch them off remotely. Full integration with major smart-home platforms.
Key features
Warmth that works outdoors.
Infrared radiant technology, architectural mounting options, and smart-home integration — engineered specifically for covered outdoor structures.
-

Radiant heat, wind-proof
Unlike forced-air systems, infrared heat transfers directly to people and surfaces — it doesn't warm the air first, which means wind blowing through an open pergola won't carry it away. Effective on cold evenings even with the louvers open.
-

Architecturally integrated
All four series are engineered to mount to pergola beams, ceilings, and walls — not set on a table or wheeled into position. Recessed, surface-mounted, and pendant options keep the structure looking clean from every angle.
-

App & remote control
Full Affinity Smart-Heat control suite: zone scheduling, heat dimming, wireless remote, and app integration with common smart-home systems. Pair multiple heaters to a single zone and adjust from your phone — or automate by time and temperature.
Spec it in from the start
Part of the structure. Not an afterthought.
Heaters work best when they're planned into the build — not added after the fact. We spec heater placement during the initial consultation, route conduit through the pergola frame, and integrate mounting hardware at install. The result: clean sightlines, no exposed wiring, and coverage zones precisely matched to your seating layout.
-
Planned placement
Coverage zones are mapped to your seating and dining areas — no gaps, no hot spots, no guesswork.
-
Concealed wiring
Electrical conduit routes through the pergola frame during installation. No surface-mounted conduit or exposed wire runs.
-
Finish coordination
White, black, or stainless steel heater bodies coordinate with the pergola finish and hardware palette.
-
Electric or gas
Most installs use electric. Gas is available for spaces where electrical capacity is limited or extra output is needed.
-
Zone control
Group heaters into zones — dining, lounge, bar — and control each independently from the app or a wall switch.
-
Commercial-grade durability
IP-certified stainless steel construction. Designed for daily use in hospitality environments — built to the same standard for residential installs.
FAQ
Questions about outdoor heaters.
Can heaters be added to an existing pergola?
Yes, though the cleanest result comes from planning it in during the original build. We can retrofit heaters to an existing pergola, but wiring and mounting hardware may be surface-routed rather than concealed in the frame. We assess each project during the consultation and propose the neatest solution available.
What is the difference between the four heater series?
Platinum is the most architecturally refined — slim-line, available flush-recessed, available in marine-grade stainless for coastal projects. Tungsten is the highest-output series with an industrial honeycomb aesthetic, ideal for larger spaces. Eclipse combines infrared heat with a dimmable LED pendant light — one fixture does both jobs. Cobalt is the most straightforward built-in heater: quartz element, directional bracket, 4000W or 6000W, wall or ceiling mount.
Do infrared heaters work when the pergola louvers are open?
Yes — this is one of the main advantages of infrared over forced-air. Infrared heat transfers directly to people and surfaces rather than warming the air. Even with the louvers fully open and a breeze moving through the space, infrared heaters remain effective as long as you're within the heat coverage zone.
Electric or gas — which is right for my project?
Most residential projects use electric. It's cleaner, easier to permit, and integrates directly with the smart-home control suite. Gas is available where electrical panel capacity is limited, where very high heat output is needed (large commercial terraces, colder climates), or where a client prefers a gas fuel source. We'll assess your panel capacity during the consultation and recommend accordingly.
How many heaters do I need?
Coverage depends on the series and wattage. As a rough guide: a 6000W Tungsten covers approximately 215 ft², a 6000W Cobalt covers up to 160 ft², and an Eclipse covers up to 121 ft². We map heater placement against your seating layout during the design phase and provide a coverage plan before anything is ordered.
Are the heaters app-controlled?
Yes. All four series are compatible with the Affinity Smart-Heat control system — wireless dimmer, on/off, and master remote. The Smart-Heat app supports zone scheduling, heat dimming, and integration with common smart-home platforms. You can automate by time, manually adjust by zone, or control from a wall switch — your choice.
Are these heaters suitable for coastal locations?
The Platinum Marine series is specifically engineered for coastal and marine environments — 316-grade stainless steel construction with an IPX5 rating and an industry-leading warranty. For non-marine coastal use, the standard 304 stainless steel heaters are also IP-certified for outdoor use. We'll spec the appropriate material grade based on your site's proximity to the coast.
Do heaters require a building permit?
Electrical heaters typically require a permit for the electrical work — wiring, breaker, and load calculation. Gas heaters require a gas permit as well. We coordinate permit applications and provide the required documentation as part of the project package.
